‘I stole £30,000 from my mum to make millions’
That’s a great headline. Stealing money from your Mum is not the usual business story and that is what makes it interesting.
Curiosity is pinged.
It’s a true story.
Ethics are an interesting thing to play with in content, people often suspend their judgement if the story is good enough.
People like it when others break social rules and then make a show if it. Look how people use profanity to get and hold attention.
Cognitive bias comes into play when we like the person or the story, it mitigates the breaking of the ethical code.
Of course is this story the “bad boy” behaviour may have been played up a little to make it tastier.
In your own content it does help to be honest and transparent, but it still needs to be mediated and edited. It still needs to have a story structure.
Don’t think you can just drop your underwear and have people interested.
